Bad news for the speeding law breakers in Tamil Nadu, as the state cops get flashy with the newly acquired TVS Apaches as their official steeds. TVS Motor Company recently handed over 101 patrol motorcycles based on the Apache 150 to CM Kalaignar Karunadhi at a function in Chennai. These patrol motorcycles which conform to global standards are equipped with warning lamps, siren, wireless microphone and high wattage search lamp among other additional fittings. All these electrical components are powered by two separate batteries stored on either side of the rear end of the bike.
Designed and equipped as per patrol vehicles across the world, these Indian examples are fitted with two front halogen warning lamps in red and blue. The bike has a rotary height-adjustable halogen lamp hoisted at the rear of the vehicle. The siren comes in three tones that can be adjusted as required for warning, overtaking and pursuit. All accessories of these patrol motorcycles are mounted on a carrier frame, engineered especially for the Tamil Nadu police. Higher ampere-hour rating batteries enable policemen to use all the accessories for a minimum of three hours continuously. The batteries can be recharged by way of a socket provided at the rear end of the bike. This is not the first time TVS has provided the force with the vehicles and has been supporting the cause as a part of its corporate social responsibility for the past few years.
